Saddle Pads and Shedding Season 02.03.2026

The first warm rays of sunshine finally hint that spring is on its way. But our horses don’t need sunshine to know that – their bodies have already started the seasonal change, and the winter hair is beginning to fall out.
Shedding season can be quite intense, especially when you think about how much hair can collect in a saddle pad. Wool fleece and sheepskin saddle pads in particular should be cleaned of loose hair regularly. If too much hair gathers at the base of the fibers, it can turn into a felt-like layer over time – and washing alone won’t fix it anymore.
That’s exactly where the hair settles if it isn’t brushed out. For this reason, it’s best to brush your saddle pad after every use, once it is completely dry. A grooming rake works well, as long as it’s gentle and doesn’t pull out the fibers.
With this simple care routine, you can significantly extend the life of your saddle pad and maintain its quality and functionality.

Wool Fleece Pads and Base Pads from THV Saddling 30.01.2026

The fabulous wool fleece pads and base pads are since september no longer produced and my stock is almost gone. I‘m holding a good thought that Keren from THV will find a new producer and those products are again available.
